FAQ

Questions, answered.

We already have an accountant. How painful is switching?
Far less painful than you'd expect, and we handle it. We request your records from your current accountant (a standard professional courtesy), migrate your books to Xero, and reconcile everything before we go live. Most switches are done within two to three weeks, with no interruption to your filings.
Our books are behind or a mess. Can you still help?
Yes, and you're in good company. Catch-up work is common and nothing to be embarrassed about. We scope a once-off clean-up to bring everything current, including any outstanding SARS submissions, then move you onto a normal monthly scope once you're up to date.
Do we need to be in Cape Town?
No. Chovia Accounting is fully remote and works with businesses across South Africa. Everything runs on a cloud stack, so you get the same service whether you're in Cape Town, Johannesburg or a small town in the Karoo.
What does it cost?
It depends on your business, which is why we don't publish packages. We scope around your transaction volumes, payroll size, systems and reporting needs, then agree one monthly fee before any work starts. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices. If you grow and the scope changes, we agree the new fee together first.
What software do we need, and who pays for it?
Your business holds its own software subscriptions, including Xero and any add-ons, so you always own your data and your licences. We advise on the right plan, set everything up and configure it as part of onboarding. You never pay for software you don't need.
What makes Chovia Accounting different from a traditional firm?
Two things. First, our team are Chartered Management Accountants, so you get senior attention rather than a rotating cast of juniors. Second, we're technology-first: document capture, dashboards and repetitive processing are systemised, which means fewer errors, faster turnaround, and a fee that goes toward insight rather than admin.
